Real Madrid TV responds to Atlético with a lengthy, hard-hitting video

Real Madrid TV has again attacked Atlético de Madrid through a particularly hard-hitting lengthy video. The Real Madrid channel, already in the spotlight since last Sunday’s derby for its attacks on refereeing and the Madrid club, has responded to Atlético’s “Stop refereeing harassment” campaign.

The sequence comes in the wake of an Atlético social-media message targeting José Mourinho over his complaints about refereeing. The club denounced three weeks, during the break, with “the machine in full swing”.

In its video, Real Madrid TV says that when Atlético believes it has been wronged, its attitude towards referees changes: “Memory is short; they ask for respect for referees, but only sometimes. Now they demand respect, but if they do not like what they see, out comes a statement.”

The channel also revisits comments by Cholo Simeone, including when he said LaLiga was “dangerously prepared for Madrid”, as well as his remark: “Raise your hand if you saw a double touch by Julián.”

Real Madrid TV also refers to Gregorio Manzano, a former Atlético coach who, according to the channel, “now appoints referees”. The channel attributes messages to him such as: “You ask for respect, but you post messages when what happens does not suit you. Respect disappears when things go badly,” and: “There is not much respect here, but rather insults towards referees.” Images of Simeone angry during a match accompany that section.

The video also shows Cholo Simeone tapping an assistant referee on the back of the neck, Mono Burgos being held back, and Arda Turan throwing a boot towards an assistant, among other footage.
