Formula 1: Isack Hadjar retained by Red Bull alongside Max Verstappen for 2027

Red Bull has confirmed that Isack Hadjar will remain alongside Max Verstappen for the 2027 Formula 1 season. The team will therefore field an unchanged driver pairing, following the Frenchman’s promotion in 2026 after his first season at Racing Bulls.

In a Red Bull seat that has historically been difficult to occupy, Hadjar has made an impression with his speed. Team principal Laurent Mekies said he was “very excited to continue this journey with Isack”. According to the reported information, the driver’s performances, on and off track, would have made the extension an easy decision despite this being only his second Formula 1 season.

Mekies also highlighted Hadjar’s commitment from the moment he joined, notably the time spent at the factory with his engineers to develop the car and improve. The Red Bull chief said the Frenchman handled his first weekend in Melbourne with remarkable composure, showing that he deserved his place in the seat.

“I am really excited to continue with Oracle Red Bull Racing,” said Hadjar, 21. He added that he intends to keep listening, learning and pushing himself every day, making him even more excited about what comes next.

The Frenchman is due to return in Azerbaijan this weekend after missing three races through injury. Despite sitting out Zandvoort, Monza and Madrid, he still sits eighth in the standings. His first Red Bull podium, secured in Monaco, adds to his maiden podium in 2025, as well as a run of seven consecutive top-six finishes in a car that has, overall, been the third or fourth quickest on the grid.

Verstappen, a four-time world champion, recently extended his contract through to 2030. Hadjar stressed the privilege of driving for what he described as an incredible team alongside him, as well as the role played by Mekies and the Milton Keynes staff in the faith shown in him since he signed.

Racing Bulls’ 2027 driver line-up, meanwhile, remains to be confirmed. Liam Lawson and Arvid Lindblad have both impressed this season, while junior driver Nikola Tsolov is also waiting for an opportunity.
