Formula 1: Isack Hadjar extended by Red Bull Racing for 2027 alongside Max Verstappen

Max Verstappen will have Isack Hadjar alongside him at Red Bull Racing in 2027. The team officially announced, in a statement, the French driver’s extension for that year.

The announcement comes as Hadjar is due to return to competition this weekend in Baku. Reported to be 100% recovered from the left-wrist injury that kept him away from the circuits for three Grands Prix, he appears to be receiving a series of positive developments: a return to the Formula 1 world championship and at least one further season in it.

“I am very excited to continue with Oracle Red Bull Racing. I arrived at this team eight months ago and immediately realised the scale and ambition of this organisation,” Hadjar said.

The Frenchman also highlighted his commitment since signing. “From that moment, I set myself the goal of dedicating myself fully to the team. With the support of Laurent Mekies and everyone in Milton Keynes, I have been able to live up to the trust placed in me. I always try to listen, learn and improve every day, which makes me even more excited about what lies ahead,” he added after the extension.

His absence from the last three Grands Prix has therefore not called his place at Red Bull into question. His performances with Racing Bulls last season, followed by those in the races he has been able to contest this year, led to the French driver’s extension.

Laurent Mekies, Red Bull Racing’s team principal, pointed to Hadjar’s contribution since he joined at the beginning of the year. “We are very excited to continue our journey with Isack. Since joining us, he has been outstanding both on and off the track, especially considering this is only his second season in Formula 1. Extending his contract was therefore an easy decision,” he explained.

Mekies also praised the work carried out at the factory with his engineers: “From day one, Isack fully integrated into the team and spent every minute at the factory with his engineers to develop the car, always eager to learn and improve.”

The Red Bull Racing chief also referred to the difficulties his driver has faced since the injury. “The period following his injury has been difficult for Isack, but this extension shows how much we believe in him and we cannot wait to see him back on track. We still have many objectives to achieve this season, but it is a fantastic feeling to know that the drivers, engineers and everyone at the factory are moving in the same direction, committed and united,” he said.

Hadjar had emerged during his first Formula 1 season, in 2025, with Racing Bulls, after replacing Liam Lawson, who was promoted to the official Red Bull Racing team. His performances during that season, together with a first podium at the Dutch Grand Prix at the age of 20, had earned him promotion to the official team as Max Verstappen’s team-mate from 2026.
