Roger Federer and Mercedes-Benz are promoting tennis in London by offering 11,478 balls, with the stated aim of “seeing tennis played.”
Ahead of the 2026 Laver Cup in London, Mercedes-Benz and Roger Federer are continuing their joint social commitment through the Neon Legacy initiative.
This year, following projects in London, Vancouver, Berlin and San Francisco, the initiative is focusing on direct support through donations of tennis equipment. Its goal is to encourage sport within the community, make tennis more accessible to children and young people, and inspire the next generation of players.
“Tennis has been a very important part of my life, and I have always loved seeing people discover this sport for the first time,” Federer said. “With Mercedes-Benz and the Neon Legacy initiative, I hope we can encourage more young people to get on court, have fun and develop their own love for the sport.”
Christina Schenck, vice-president for digital, communications and investor relations at Mercedes-Benz AG, said Federer stands out for the natural way in which he combines excellence and authenticity, values that she said define the company’s identity. “That is why this collaboration is so meaningful to us,” she said. “Together, we want to make tennis more accessible and inspire the next generation of players through our joint Neon Legacy initiative.”
Through the Laver Cup organisation, Mercedes-Benz and Federer will donate 11,478 tennis balls to local clubs and social initiatives in the British capital, one for every ace Federer produced over the course of his career. That total matches the number of aces recorded by the Swiss legend throughout his career.
