Esteban Súarez: “Vinicius knows Mourinho is going to take him off”

Esteban Súarez said that “Vinicius knows Mourinho is going to take him off.”

Speaking on Radioestadio Noche on Onda Cero, the former goalkeeper offered a strong assessment of Vinicius’s situation. He said Mourinho “is not going to stay silent” and could take Vinicius off despite any mistakes he may make. In his view, Vinicius is aware enough not to throw his arms up, knowing that Xabi Alonso is not his opponent, but that Mourinho could take him off and be applauded for doing so. He added that some people want to see Vinicius not play.

Following several spells last season in which he had already been under scrutiny, Vinicius is not going through his best period and is once again at the centre of questions. He is currently hearing some whistles at the Bernabéu, which is fuelling debate over his performances.

Esteban Súarez also felt that many people had harmed Vinicius by excessively praising many of his actions, making this year difficult for him afterwards. He highlighted Kylian Mbappé’s high media profile as one of the reasons.

“Everyone talks about Mbappé, everyone is starting to doubt him and whistle him,” Esteban Súarez said in reference to Vinicius. “I don’t know whether he will have the character to overcome it. He is losing that sporting affection from the supporters.”
