The coach is confident his team will show a different face from their pre-season meeting with Real Madrid, which ended 74-113 in the XV Torneo Costa del Sol.
The coach gave a positive assessment of his squad’s mindset ahead of the Liga Endesa season. He described a group with “a lot of enthusiasm” and eager to begin competing. His warning was clear: “We cannot repeat the mistakes from the pre-season match against Real Madrid.”
Against an opponent they had already faced during pre-season, Vidorreta believes he knows what must change. He said the analysis of the difficulties encountered, Real Madrid’s strengths and the mistakes made should help prepare for Sunday’s game, while highlighting his team’s responses against UCAM Murcia and Monbus Obradoiro, as well as the motivation created by the opportunity to show a better level.
Asked whether Unicaja can compete with EuroLeague-level teams, Vidorreta was invited to give his view. With last season as a reference point, the coach struck a measured tone.
