Solomon, Israel’s captain, said: “Our country is ten times better.”
In the UEFA Nations League, Ireland lost 0-3 to Israel.
In a separate statement, Manor Solomon, a West Ham player, said: “If I said what I think of them, I would probably be sanctioned for several matches, so I prefer to say nothing. Obviously, they hate us and we do not appreciate them.”
Asked about Ireland’s conduct during Israel’s anthem, he said: “We have a country ten times better than theirs, stronger than theirs. We have an incredible country with incredible people. We are proud to wear the national team shirt and to be Israeli, proud of our country and our soldiers. They can do whatever acrobatics they want and whatever they please.”
Solomon added that he was already looking forward to the next match against them.
