Fort will miss the Euskal Herria Txapela derby, where he was due to get the chance to prove himself. Héctor Fort was withdrawn from the squad at the last minute because of physical discomfort that the club considers not serious. The club says it should not prevent him from training with the group on Monday or Tuesday. No return to a match has been announced.
The setback adds to what have been described as an unconvincing start for Fort at Real Sociedad. His arrival from Barça reportedly cost 8.5 million euros for 60% of his rights. Among other consequences, it led to Rupérez being moved down to Sanse, despite being unable to join the first team because of his age.
The derby was meant to give the new signing a chance to make an impression. Instead, Iñaki Rupérez will start today at Anoeta with the first team, wearing number 35. Matarazzo has chosen not to rely too heavily on Sanse’s young players, who will begin on the bench. In the starting eleven, Remiro remains ahead of Marrero, Aihen replaces Sergio at left-back, while Pacheco and Beitia will form the central defensive pairing.
