Albacete have dismissed Alberto González after their 3-1 home defeat to Eibar. The club announced that it was also parting ways with members of his staff, Enrique González and Juanjo Rico.
The latest setback comes amid Albacete’s worst start to the league in this tier: the team have earned just one point from a possible 24 and sit bottom of the table. Their position has worsened from round to round, and Alberto González was unable to turn things around.
In its statement, the club said it had « been forced » to make this « extremely difficult decision ». It thanked the coach and his staff for their dedication, professionalism and commitment during their time at Carlos Belmonte.
Alberto González leaves with 107 matches in charge: 39 wins, 30 draws and 38 defeats. His spell also included five consecutive victories in the season he arrived, which helped the team retain its place in 23-24, as well as a memorable Copa del Rey campaign last season. He leaves the dugout at Carlos Belmonte after two and a half years.
Alberto González is due to address Albacete supporters tomorrow at 10:30 in a press conference at Carlos Belmonte.
