Juanma Castaño criticises Mbappé’s cycling photo

Juanma Castaño has weighed in after Kylian Mbappé posted a photo of himself on a bicycle while the Real Madrid forward is injured. The image, shared on Instagram only days after José Mourinho warned about the risks of such activities, reignited criticism of the player. Castaño discussed the situation on El Partidazo de COPE.

The journalist believes doubts are taking hold about Mbappé’s collective commitment: “A climate is developing in which Mbappé is seen as less committed to Real Madrid as a collective than he is to himself.” He added that many people see Mbappé as more focused on himself than on the rest of the team, and that some considered him more concerned about his World Cup than Real Madrid’s end to the season.

Castaño also broadened his comments to the club’s treatment of its players. “The club doesn’t look at the two of them in the same way. Vinicius is the club’s player and Mbappé is not the club’s preferred player. And if at some point it has to choose which one to sell, Real Madrid will keep Vinicius and sell Mbappé. And the club is Florentino,” he said.
