Real Madrid TV omits the women’s team’s defeat

Real Madrid’s women’s team disappeared from Real Madrid TV’s news coverage after its 7-0 defeat to Barcelona in the Clásico. The channel’s midday bulletin made no reference to the match, despite the emphatic scoreline.

The programme covered the first team, the academy, basketball and the international commitments of Madrid’s players, but devoted no segment to the women’s side. By contrast, Real Madrid TV aired an extensive report on refereeing, including the “Negreira case” and Barcelona.

The channel also revisited refereeing decisions that it considers to have clearly gone against the men’s team. In that coverage, the women’s defeat to Barcelona was left out of the bulletin.

The 7-0 loss has reportedly hit senior figures at Real Madrid hard. That reported reaction, however, did not lead to the match being mentioned in the channel’s midday news programme.
