Real Madrid reaches 21 major injuries across four seasons

Real Madrid has now suffered 21 major injuries over the past four seasons. Asencio’s operation, which is expected to keep him out for around four months, is the latest blow for the club. Long-term absences have become one of the team’s biggest challenges, with serious injuries recurring over several years.

The operation adds Asencio to a tally already under way. Last season, nine serious injuries affected eight Madrid players. More broadly, recent seasons have been particularly difficult on the medical front, and the defender’s latest procedure is another example.

The 24-25 campaign was also marked by serious injuries that badly disrupted Madrid. The first major blow was Carvajal’s very serious knee injury, which happened two years ago. Then, in December, Alaba completed the unhappy trio of cruciate ligament tears at Real Madrid.

Asencio’s injury therefore extends a run of physical setbacks weighing on the club. His operation begins the current campaign with another lengthy absence.
