Córdoba returned to winning ways at El Arcángel, overcoming Tenerife in an intense match that featured several changes in the score and strong spells from both sides. Captain Isma Ruiz settled the contest late on, after Tenerife had fought back to level the score twice.
The victory ends a run of two consecutive home defeats and four losses in the previous five rounds. It also lifts Ania’s side out of the relegation zone, which they had entered following the results elsewhere in the round.
The decisive goal came from Isma Ruiz late in the match. It dealt another setback to Tete, who have managed just one win in their last six matches. Both teams continued to create chances during an open finale: Kevin Medina and Percan came close to putting Córdoba ahead, while Dani Fernández had a dangerous opportunity for Tenerife, before the captain finally found the net.
Tenerife finished the match with ten men after Juanjo Sánchez received a second booking. For Córdoba, the win brings an immediate change in their league position as well as ending a difficult run.
