Carvajal passes medical, with one final step still to come

Carvajal has successfully completed his medical, but his move to a new club is not yet finalised. Getafe president Ángel Torres announced on Tuesday that the club was working to sign the Spanish right-back as a free agent. The final step involves settling the details between the Spanish La Liga and Getafe, he confirmed.

Torres also said the move could address a need in the team. “We are working on it. The coach asked me for a winger and we haven’t managed to find one, so let’s see if he can fit the role of both full-back and winger,” he said of Carvajal.

The player has been without a team since his last match for Real Madrid, played on May 23. That appearance ended a 23-season spell wearing Madrid’s shirt, including 13 seasons with the first team. Carvajal won 27 titles with the club, among them six Champions League titles.

The Spanish right-back has chosen Getafe, the team from the south of Madrid coached by José Bordalás. He is due to play in the Conference League for the club, subject to the final step with Getafe being completed.
