Mikel Arteta has signed a new long-term contract with Arsenal, extending his commitment to the club. “We want to create a winning era together with Mikel,” chief executive Richard Garlick said, describing the deal as an important moment in Arsenal’s history.
Arteta’s previous contract, signed in September 2024, was due to expire next summer. The coach welcomed the chance to continue his work at the club. “It’s a privilege to commit my future to the club and to continue to work with exceptional people who want the best for Arsenal,” he said.
Arteta also reflected on the bond he has built with the club and his excitement about what lies ahead. “This club is unique, its character and the way it makes you feel, and I have a great sense of privilege that our journey together will continue,” he said. He added: “We have already built a special bond and created memories that will last a lifetime, and what is so exciting is that this is only the beginning of what we can achieve together.”
Arteta also expressed gratitude to Stan and Josh for their trust and support, saying he felt honoured to lead the club through a special period in its 140-year history. He called the contract a proud moment and praised the affection and respect shown by the supporters, saying that feeling was returned.
Garlick said Arsenal would keep working with Arteta to fulfil the club’s and supporters’ long-term ambitions. He praised the coach’s belief, determination and understanding of what it takes to build something lasting, and said the club was excited to continue the journey together.
The extension follows a landmark season: last season, Arteta guided Arsenal to their first Premier League title in 22 years, after three consecutive second-place finishes. The new deal gives shape to the ambition both parties have expressed to continue their partnership and pursue a period of success.
