Inter are monitoring Napoli’s Frank Anguissa and Manchester City’s Mateo Kovacic as the Serie A champions consider changes in midfield. These are players under observation, not announced transfers. The club is assessing profiles who could become available without a fee as their contracts approach expiry.
The planning comes after Cristian Chivu’s side made a strong start to the season, taking 13 points from their first five Serie A matches. At the same time, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Hakan Calhanoglu are approaching the final stages of their current contracts, adding to the importance of planning ahead in midfield. Tuttosport reports that Anguissa is among the players being considered. Talks over a new deal at Napoli have not produced an agreement so far, and Inter had followed his situation previously.
Kovacic is also on the club’s radar. Inter are weighing whether a return to Milan could fit into their midfield reshaping. Anguissa would bring the physical presence the team has been seeking, while Kovacic would offer familiarity with the club and extensive Serie A experience.
Inter Milan often bring in seasoned players after their deals run out. Mkhitaryan and Calhanoglu joined the club as free agents, illustrating the appeal of that approach. Inter would nevertheless have to wait before opening formal negotiations. Whether Anguissa or Kovacic becomes a realistic target remains to be seen as the club plans the next phase of its midfield.
