“Cristiano has returned in good physical and mental condition; he is ready,” Ange Postecoglou said. The Al-Nassr coach said the forward’s return in that condition was the most important thing for his team and that he was prepared to play again.
The Australian coach, who replaced Jorge Jesus in the Saudi dugout, chose to focus on his club rather than the controversy surrounding Cristiano Ronaldo and his situation with the Portugal team. “I don’t like club coaches commenting on what happens with national teams, so I won’t talk about it,” he said when asked about the forward’s recent departure from the Portuguese squad.
At Al-Nassr, João Félix has already returned to training. The club is waiting for its other Saudi internationals to come back and complete the squad before its match against Al-Diriyah.
Cristiano Ronaldo has played seven matches this season across the Saudi league and the Asian Champions League, scoring three goals. Postecoglou, however, focused on his condition after returning and his readiness to take the field again.
