Frosinone president Maurizio Stirpe has outlined the club’s new strategy after a start to the season that exceeded his expectations. He believes the team’s identity and cohesion can provide a foundation for its fight against relegation. Frosinone is also placing strong emphasis on Italian players: five members of its squad are involved with Italy’s Under-21 side.
Asked by Sky Sport whether he had anticipated such a start, Stirpe replied: “Absolutely not, it was unexpected, pleasant and surprising in many respects, especially because of how it happened.” He considers coach Massimiliano Alvini’s work central to the team’s progress, particularly in helping new arrivals settle into the squad.
“The identity and cohesion that our coach has been able to give the whole group,” he said. Stirpe added that players who arrived in the summer have also taken on that approach. He described it as “a great satisfaction that crowns a path of growth over the last two years”.
Stirpe discussed what lies ahead for Giorgi Kvernadze and Lorenzo Palmisani, with clubs beyond Frosinone reportedly interested. He defended Clara Vista’s philosophy of focusing on players who represent the team’s excellence at that moment, while acknowledging that keeping them will not be easy. Stirpe also praised Baldini’s approach, which centres on young players and taking responsibility for one’s ideas.
The strategy comes amid a period of change for Stirpe: after 23 years, he sold a majority stake in Frosinone, a decision shaped by the club’s repeated failures to avoid relegation. He said he hoped this mix of approaches could provide the formula to keep the team up. “I never regret it,” he replied when asked whether he regretted selling the stake.
