Paul Hennequin of Euskaltel Euskadi won the third stage of the Algiers International Grand Prix. The victory came on a closed circuit in Sidi Abdellah, where 78 cyclists of different nationalities took part, including 14 Algerians and 64 foreign riders.
The race took place on Wednesday over ten laps of an 11.41 km circuit. Hennequin finished ahead of Belgium’s Timothy Dupont, while Algeria’s Hamza Yacine, riding for Madar Pro-Team, took third place. His teammate Mohamed Nadjib Assal finished fourth.
In the jersey classifications, Spain’s Iker Mintegi Claver, also of Euskaltel Euskadi, retained both the yellow leader’s jersey and the polka-dot jersey for the best climber. Anas Riyahi of Madar Pro-Team kept the white jersey for the best young rider after finishing 10th on the stage.
The riders will have a rest day on Thursday before Friday’s final race, the “Capital Classic”. It is scheduled to take place on an urban circuit in Algiers province, covering 11.2 km over eleven laps.
