“I’d love to commentate on a Champions League final and see Atlético de Madrid win it,” Mario Suárez said. A new signing for Movistar Plus, he will join “La Casa del Fútbol” to commentate on the Champions League and will also take part in “Deporte Plus”.
The former midfielder played for Atlético de Madrid, Celta de Vigo, Valladolid, Fiorentina, Watford, Valencia and Rayo Vallecano, winning six titles with the Madrid club. He said he was “super motivated” by this new professional chapter and eager to commentate, appear on programmes and get started.
Suárez also spoke of his longstanding affection for Movistar Plus. He remembers watching “El Día Después” as a child and still enjoys its “Lo que el ojo no ve” feature. “I’m really enjoying this new chapter,” he said. He hopes his work as a commentator will continue “for many years” and is excited to work with Carlos Martínez, Maldini and the other professionals at the broadcaster.
His dream assignment is already clear: commentating on the Champions League final, scheduled for the Metropolitano this season, with Atlético de Madrid involved—and seeing the club win. It remains a wish, not a result that has been decided.
