LaLiga has set several hurdles for Getafe before a potential move for Dani Carvajal can go ahead. The club must establish whether the full-back can be registered within its squad-cost limit, while contract talks remain open.

Roberto Gómez reported that negotiations between the club and the player are pending a clause Carvajal wants included in his contract. Gómez said it would allow him to leave if an offer from another club arrived in the winter transfer market. Carvajal has also completed his medical examination.

An economic agreement between the two parties could allow Getafe to fit the player into its squad-cost limit, but that would not necessarily satisfy LaLiga’s criteria. LaLiga’s Valuation Committee must first assess Carvajal. Ángel Torres spoke on Tuesday about reaching an “agreement” with LaLiga; the governing body, however, insists that registration must comply with Getafe’s squad-cost limit after the valuation.

The factors cited include individual awards won over the past three years. Carvajal won the Champions League, Liga and European Championship in 2024. According to journalist Pablo Pinto, the Committee would value the player at 2.6 million, a figure Getafe could struggle to accommodate and one that could lead the club to abandon the pursuit of the full-back.

That figure does not mean Carvajal would earn at least 2.6 million: even if he earned less, the amount would count towards Getafe’s financial-control calculation. LaLiga says the rule, approved by the clubs, is intended to prevent fraud and concealed payments.
