Summerville has been suspended for three matches and fined $2,000 by the Asian Football Confederation’s Disciplinary and Ethics Committee. The sanction follows his dismissal for violent conduct during Al Hilal’s match against Al Gharafa in the opening round of the AFC Elite Champions League group stage.
The Al Hilal player will miss the club’s next three matches in the competition: against Al Sadd on October 13, Al Shamal on October 27 and Shabab Al Ahli on November 3.
In their match on September 15, Al Hilal beat Al Gharafa 2-1 at Kingdom Arena. Ruben Neves and Sergej Milinković-Savić scored for Al Hilal, while Alaa Al-Din Hassan scored for Al Gharafa.
Bennacer, who was also sent off in that match, could also face punishment. Press reports say he is expected to receive a three-match suspension and a $2,000 fine. Such a sanction would rule him out of matches against Esteghlal, Al Ahli and Al Qadsiah.
