Paredes praises La Masia after Barcelona’s 7-0 win over Real Madrid

“La Masia is incredible; the results have spoken,” says Paredes. The FC Barcelona defender points to the club’s academy work just days after the 7-0 victory over Real Madrid at Spotify Camp Nou in the Liga F Clásico.

Paredes says the departures involved important players: the four who left the team this year had been starters and had spent a long time there. She also acknowledges that the squad is smaller and that the club has suffered significant absences, but stresses the response within the team: new players have arrived, and opportunities have gone to players from the B team.

“There is so much quality; the work done at Masia is incredible. The team has kept winning, and winning well. That deserves to be valued,” she says. On the emphatic result against Real Madrid, she adds: “We were really, really good. It is difficult to play a match like that against a Madrid side that I think has strengthened and is better than last year. If we played again, I don’t think the same result would happen.”

The defender also sums up the group’s mindset: “We love competing, we love winning, we love being better.” Her comments underline Barcelona’s ability to remain successful despite changes to the squad.
