“It has been a while since we could see each other and share a hug,” Juan Carlos Ferrero says of Alcaraz. The 46-year-old former world No. 1 expresses his wish to reconnect with him.

Ferrero is embarking on a new chapter with the publication of his book, which focuses on building the habit of discipline beyond motivation. In the interview, he is also asked whether Alcaraz and Zverev were looking to him for the experience of a great champion.

Ferrero is also considering a return to the tennis circuit. “Little by little, the competitive flame I have always had as a player is growing, and the thought of returning to the tennis circuit next year or whenever the time is right is beginning to come to me,” he says.

He also addresses the possibility of coaching Sinner: he hopes Carlos would not see it as a betrayal and says that is far from his intention. His wish to see Alcaraz again is part of a conversation in which he reflects both on his new role as an author and on what may lie ahead in his coaching career.
