A surprising claim about Cristiano Ronaldo’s family has emerged: Portuguese journalist Luis Villar says they advised him to retire and bring his career to a quiet close. That account contrasts with the family support described around the Al-Nassr captain in Saudi Arabia, which helps him keep playing despite sharp criticism.

Speaking to Al Arabiya, Villar put the advice this way: “This time, Ronaldo’s family advised him to retire and end his career peacefully.”

The journalist also pointed to recent difficulties in Ronaldo’s professional career. He linked them to a dispute with Jorge Jesus, who reportedly decided to leave Ronaldo out and failed to keep a promise, according to the statement recounted. The account describes Jorge Jesus as having taken charge of Portugal.

Villar nevertheless argued that Ronaldo cannot understand that his time in football is over. “At the same time, he must recognise his worth, because he is a symbol of Portugal,” he added.

The journalist further said public opinion believes Ronaldo’s arrogance and personal demands lead him to make poor decisions, including continuing to play despite a decline in his technical and physical level. Those remain reported views; Villar’s account of the family’s advice is the central revelation.
