The Friedkin Group, Everton’s owner for two years, is considering selling the club. The group is exploring the sale of a controlling interest as one of several investment options raised in a statement issued on Friday.
“The time is right to consider the next chapter for Everton,” the group said. It added that it would consider interest only from parties it strongly believes would be the right stewards for the club and could build on the momentum already established.
The Friedkin Group said that when it took charge, Everton faced considerable financial uncertainty and challenges both on and off the pitch. Its immediate priority, it said, was to provide stability, investment and support to secure the club’s future, including helping complete the long-promised stadium for its supporters.
The takeover was completed in December 2024, bringing Farhad Moshiri’s era to an end. The group now says the foundations are in place to consider what comes next, while making clear that any prospective investor would need to be, in its view, the right partner to take Everton forward.
