After 20 weeks, Rayo are set to play a Liga match at their Vallecas ground again. The return ends a lengthy spell away from a neighbourhood closely tied to the club. The team had been forced to play its first three home fixtures at Butarque, in Leganés, where the results were fairly positive.
The return to Vallecas comes as the team is described as stronger than last season under Iñigo. It also comes amid changes to the squad: Nico, injured while with his national team, and Sancet, hurt after a training session, became unavailable within a few days. Laporte will also miss the trip because of an illness.
To cover those absences, the coach has turned to the reserve side.
Rayo’s return to their ground is the defining feature of this homecoming after three matches played elsewhere. The sporting stakes and kick-off time are not established by the facts available here.
