The federation praised Cristiano Ronaldo’s goal for Al-Nassr, scored on Friday against Al-Diriyah in a 3-0 win. Back in Saudi Arabia after leaving the national team during the international break, the forward found the net again. His goal opened the scoring in the 8th round of the Saudi Pro League, with supporters behind him.
The Federation also highlighted the goal on social media. That stood in contrast with its treatment of a goal by Ronaldo’s compatriot Samu Costa, making the gesture a widely noticed piece of publicity. Federation officials appear to be treading carefully since Ronaldo left the national team during the international break.
The PFP summed up its tribute in a post: “Cristiano Ronaldo goal in A-Nassr’s victory”. It was accompanied by a photograph of the Portuguese player celebrating in a Seleçao shirt. Friday also marked Ronaldo’s return to competitive action with his club, Al-Nassr.
