On Saturday afternoon, FC Nantes hosted Reims at the Beaujoire on matchday 8 of Ligue 2. As Brigade Loire returned to the stand, the ultras made clear their opposition to the club sale plan led by former agent Paulo Tavares as part of the process initiated by Waldemar Kita.
The stand’s reopening passed without disorder. Supporters cheered the team while also delivering their message. One banner read, “Still that stone in your shoe,” conveying their distrust. Another, displayed after 20 minutes of play, called for a change of ownership: “Socpresse, Kita... 25 years of drifting. We want to turn the page, not rewrite the same story. FC Nantes deserves a healthy buyer!”
Brigade Loire had already voiced its concerns a few days earlier. In a statement, the group said the club needed a new owner, while questioning the project’s seriousness and financial strength and warning against “swapping the plague for cholera.”
That concern accompanied the ultras’ return to the Beaujoire, as the sale proposal faces strong opposition among supporters. The Loire stand reopened on the occasion after being closed following the abandonment of the previous season’s final Ligue 1 match against Toulouse. FC Nantes, owned by Waldemar Kita since 2007, could be sold soon. The proposal backed by Phenix Sport Invest and Paulo Tavares has failed to convince fans, who fear a new ownership arrangement that would simply repeat the past.
