“For two seconds, I lost my head,” Esteban Andrada said as he revisited the punch he landed on Jorge Pulido. The goalkeeper spoke in an interview in Mexico about the Huesca-Real Zaragoza match last season, an episode that brought him a red card and a heavy sanction.

Andrada also described his immediate remorse: “I lost my head; it was two seconds, and then, as soon as I had done it, I regretted it, because I’m not an aggressive person.” He knew the images would spread around the world and that people might see him differently. Still, he says his conscience is clear, viewing the act as an isolated incident that does not define his career.

“It hurt because I damaged my image a little, but those who know me know I’m a good person,” he explained. The fact that his children use social media also made the moment especially painful for him.

After leaving Real Zaragoza and serving a 13-match suspension, Andrada regained his starting place at Monterrey and returned to normal life. He is now a starter for Monterrey and says he wants to move on and focus on the success he hopes to achieve there.
