Anthony Gordon opened the scoring for Barça in the second minute against Getafe on Saturday at Spotify Camp Nou, in the eighth round of the Spanish league. The Catalan side started the match top of La Liga on 21 points, two ahead of Atlético Madrid. Getafe were 12th on 8 points.
For the goal, Gordon dribbled past three defenders near the edge of the penalty area. His shot then took a deflection off an opponent before finding the net to put Barça in front.
The team were without their captain and leading scorer, Raphinha, because of an injury. Hansi Flick therefore named Gabriel Jesus in the starting line-up for the first time since his arrival at the club.
The goal took Gordon to nine goal contributions in all competitions this season: four goals and five assists. Barça thus took the lead in a match they entered as league leaders, while Getafe began the contest with 8 points in the standings.
