Flick savours the win and stresses the importance of the team

“I really appreciate this win,” Hansi Flick said after the victory over Getafe. The FC Barcelona coach also said his team had controlled the ball and its opponent well, while noting that creating chances against this side is not easy. He spoke on DAZN and later at a press conference.

Flick also highlighted competition within his squad and the level his players are showing. Asked about Koundé, who returned to the pitch after spending three matches on the bench, he praised his professionalism and work in training. The coach also stressed the value of a group in which everyone accepts that they may not always start. In his view, the quality of the squad and the positive dressing-room atmosphere matter in the pursuit of titles.

The win also kept FC Barcelona at the top of LaLiga for another week, with eight victories in eight rounds. Flick said scoring early had been important, particularly after almost three weeks without competition and against a Getafe side he described as having one of the league’s strongest defences.

His focus has already turned to the next fixture. “The most important thing is to think about the next match, against Galatasaray,” he said, while also speaking of the team’s desire to make history and the players’ commitment.

Flick was also asked about Gerard Martín, who reached 100 matches in the blaugrana shirt on Saturday against Getafe. He praised the player’s mentality, work and desire to improve. On Koundé, he added that the defender trains to get better and that the team supports him in that effort.
