Tottenham snatched a point at Manchester United through Dominic Solanke, who scored in stoppage time with his side down to 10 men. The draw also spared Spurs a fourth defeat, but they remain winless after their first six league matches.
Manchester United had taken the lead after an attack started by Matheus Cunha. Played in by Luke Shaw on the left, the Brazilian sent a cross to Bryan Mbeumo, who turned and finished for the hosts.
The match then boiled over. As Luke Shaw chased Bruno Fernandes’ ball, Rodrigo Bentancur launched a forceful scissor challenge. It could have caused the defender a serious injury had it connected. Stuart Atwell sent Bentancur off and booked Shaw and Jan Paul van Hecke.
Tottenham eventually equalised in stoppage time, scoring their third league goal of the season in the process. From Sandro Tonali’s floated cross from the left, Lisandro Martinez failed to clear the ball. Dominic Solanke won the contest and headed home, with Senne Lammens in goal.
