Stassin has suffered a setback ahead of Sevilla’s match against Levante, which closes the eighth round of LaLiga EA Sports. The club had hoped to have its forward back, but he did not take part in the final training session before the team travelled to Valencia. Sevilla will announce its squad on Sunday.
Stassin, Marcao and young Iker Muñoz were unable to train under Luis García Plaza. Stassin’s absence follows a muscular injury to his long adductor, which had already ruled him out of the match against Barcelona before the international break. Sevilla had hoped the pause in the competition would give him time to recover, and he was also withdrawn from Belgium’s under-21 squad. At this stage, however, all signs point to Stassin missing the match against Levante.
Sevilla go into the fixture aiming to return to winning ways and build on their strong away form. They are the best away side after Barcelona, with two wins and a draw from three matches at San Mamés, the RCDE Stadium and Riazor.
