Club Sportif Sfaxien’s defeat to Progrès Sakiet Eddaïer has brought Nabil Kouki closer to the exit. His departure as coach is described as imminent, although an official announcement is still pending. Well-informed sources indicate that it could come before the team leaves for Côte d’Ivoire, scheduled for next Wednesday.
Kouki’s remarks after the match also factored into what followed. In the hours after the game, several board members held a lengthy meeting, some in person and others by phone, to discuss the situation. The talks ended with a near-consensus in favour of dismissing the coach and ending his association with the club.
The identity of his successor remains unsettled, with opinions divided over the candidate. There is, however, agreement on the desired profile: a coach familiar with Club Sportif Sfaxien and its environment, who could take up the role quickly.
One of the names raised was Mohammed Kouki. Regional correspondent Fathi Boujnah reported that a return to lead the team was being considered for the beginning of next week. Club Sportif Sfaxien’s next announced fixture is the first leg of the second qualifying round of the Confederation Cup, next Saturday against Académie Amadou Diallo at the Houphouët-Boigny stadium in Abidjan.
