A video of Mohammed Noor celebrating with Fahad Al-Mufarrij after the “Greens” won the latest Gulf Cup prompted a sharp exchange between Noor and Omar Al-Ghamdi. A former Al-Hilal star, Al-Ghamdi criticised the Al-Ittihad legend. Noor’s response brought the argument back to that joyful scene, which had become a talking point in an analysis studio.
“Mohammed Noor is always chaotic, on and off the pitch, and he will never change,” Al-Ghamdi said. His judgment extended beyond Noor’s conduct on the field and drew a direct reply. Noor argued that the description did not reflect what had actually happened during the Gulf title celebrations.
Noor rejected the label and pointed out that Al-Ghamdi knows him well, having faced him several times over the course of their careers in Saudi football. He set their history of on-field encounters against a criticism based, in his view, on the video alone.
“I don’t accept these comments, because Omar knows me well. I’m not chaotic; he couldn’t sleep before facing me,” Noor said. By recalling the nerves he says Al-Ghamdi felt ahead of their duels, Noor turned the retort back on his interlocutor. His answer was not simply a denial of an adjective: it invoked the shared history the two men built on the pitch.
Noor also explained the gesture that reignited the dispute. He said he was happy and celebrated spontaneously with Al-Mufarrij, with no ulterior meaning. He said he was astonished by Al-Ghamdi’s comments about the national team, adding that Al-Ghamdi did not share their happiness. That gap in interpretation — a spontaneous celebration in Noor’s account, behaviour Al-Ghamdi calls chaotic — gives the exchange its edge. For now, Noor’s reply has refocused the argument on the scene itself and on how each man viewed that moment of celebration.
