Boyé has joined Toni Martínez at the top of Alavés’ scoring chart since Quique Sánchez Flores arrived at Mendizorroza. In the latest round, the two players drew level for goals scored over that period. Boyé is now close to half the goals he scored last season, the most prolific campaign of his career. Physical problems at various points during this season did not prevent him from producing the best goalscoring campaign of his career.

The Argentine forward scored 11 goals in 29 league appearances. Toni Martínez, meanwhile, has yet to score in the opening months of LaLiga, leaving Boyé as Alavés’ leading scorer. Since Quique took charge, both forwards have scored 11 times in 20 rounds. Together, they account for 22 of the Glorioso’s 33 goals, or 66% of Alavés’ goals with the Madrid-born coach.

Their playing time differs: Martínez has played 1,445 minutes in 19 matches, compared with Boyé’s 975 minutes across 16 appearances. The pair’s complementary qualities fit Quique’s style. Alavés had also relied on both players under Chacho Coudet, despite the considerable differences in their approaches to the game. Under Quique, the two forwards have scored two out of every three goals for the team, according to the figures presented.
