By way of Turkey, Lamine Yamal could move closer to Kylian Mbappé’s Champions League record. The Barcelona winger is one goal short of matching the Frenchman’s mark in the competition.
His goal against Feyenoord, on the opening matchday of the league phase in the 2026-2027 season, took his tally to 12 goals in the competition. Mbappé scored 13 before turning 20, leaving Yamal one short of that benchmark.
The record gives Yamal another opportunity to establish himself among European football’s leading emerging talents. He turns 20 next July and can still add to his total in the competition.
Barcelona’s next fixture is scheduled for tomorrow, Tuesday, in Istanbul, where it will face Galatasaray. If Yamal scores, he could equal or surpass the record. The next European match will therefore draw attention as the Spanish forward seeks to close the gap on Mbappé.
