Barcelona have received an encouraging update on Raphinha ahead of their upcoming European commitments and highly anticipated Champions League match against Galatasaray. The winger’s return to action, however, remains without a confirmed date.
The Brazilian has resumed on-field training as part of his rehabilitation programme after an injury kept him out of the team. He returned early from the international break after suffering slight swelling in the muscle of his right thigh, and then followed a training programme separate from that of his teammates.
His return to the pitch does not mean he will be available for the next fixture: Raphinha will not travel with Barcelona’s delegation to Turkey for Tuesday’s game against Galatasaray. SER Catalunya reported the expected absence. The club’s medical staff are proceeding cautiously because of previous muscle problems in the same area, and are avoiding a rushed return before he has fully regained his fitness.
Barcelona hope he can complete his recovery as soon as possible. His attacking contribution and ability to make a difference are particularly valuable with a busy schedule approaching. For now, the return to on-field work is an encouraging sign of progress, but the date of his return to team training and official matches has yet to be set.
