Valladolid put on a festival against Albacete, turning Etxebe’s arrival into a moment to forget. Inspired by Víctor Jr., the side dominated its opponent and extended its run to four consecutive matchdays without defeat, including two straight wins at Zorrilla.
The match was effectively settled by half-time, with four goals scored. Ponceau headed in a Thiago Ojeda cross after Víctor Jr. played the ball through. David Torres then also scored with a header, from a Víctor Jr. corner. Arnu found the net at the end of a move involving Víctor Jr. and Ponceau, before Latasa finished from close range after Garriel’s cross.
In the second half, Arnu had a close-range effort blocked by Lluis López, while Mariño kept out Latasa’s attempt. Arnu then scored the fifth, meeting a Víctor Jr. cross.
For Albacete, the defeat extended a run of four consecutive losses. The team remains bottom and without a win despite the change of coach. Joseba Etxeberria therefore had a particularly difficult first match in charge.
