Barcelona are monitoring Pedro Porro, Tottenham Hotspur’s full-back, as the Spaniard could leave the Premier League and is seriously considering a return to his home country. The Catalan club is assessing whether to make a move in the next transfer window, but no deal has been announced.
Reports about the player suggest Porro is increasingly convinced that his time in the Premier League may be nearing its end. Despite having a contract with Tottenham until June 2031, he is said to no longer see his long-term future in the Spurs project and is examining the possibility of returning to Spanish football. Barcelona are following developments with interest.
Aged 27, Porro has several qualities Hans Flick is looking for to strengthen the defence: attacking ability, speed and international experience. His capacity to push forward also makes him an interesting candidate for the right-back position.
Barcelona’s interest remains conditional. The club’s sporting department, led by Deco, is not currently planning to spend large sums on full-back positions unless a player first leaves the squad. A possible departure by Jules Koundé could give Porro a direct route to the right-back role.
Tottenham’s position is another factor. The club extended the Spanish international’s contract until 2031 and has no contractual need to part with one of its important players. In recent days, reports in Spain and England have discussed Porro’s consideration of a change of environment. Barcelona continue to track him without an official offer at this stage; what happens next could depend on moves in London and the Catalan club’s decisions regarding its two current full-backs.
Barcelona are also considering other options: Iván Fresneda, a Sporting Lisbon player, is among the candidates to strengthen the full-back positions. Porro’s case is therefore part of a wider assessment, with no recruitment decision announced.
