Paul Pogba reportedly has options to continue his career

Retirement is not yet a foregone conclusion for Paul Pogba. Since leaving Monaco this summer, the 33-year-old midfielder’s future has been uncertain, but he is reportedly considering a few options for a new challenge. He has been without a club since 19 August.

His future was not discussed during his brief public remarks. Jérôme Rothen nevertheless believes Pogba has not abandoned the idea of continuing his professional career. The former AS Monaco and PSG player, now presenting the programme “Rothen s’enflamme” on RMC, also recalled that the parting with Monaco had been « en très bons termes ».

Rothen described a player who is continuing to use the club’s facilities as he considers what comes next. « Paul a pris conscience qu'il n'y arrivait pas mais il continue d'utiliser les infrastructures du club pour trouver un nouveau challenge », he said, before discussing how difficult it can be to stop when the desire remains but the body cannot keep up.

Monaco had announced the end of their association. Pogba joined the club in 2025 in an attempt to revive his career in the Principality. His name had previously been linked with Inter Miami, and he had also held discussions with DC United. For now, the reported options do not mean that an agreement with a new club has been reached.
