Sander Van der Ejik will referee Thursday’s Europa League match between Celta and Juventus. The 35-year-old Dutch official is set to oversee his third European fixture of the season, with Celta looking to respond after losing 1-0 to Omonia on the opening matchday.

Van der Ejik’s two previous European assignments this season came in different competitions: one in Europa League qualifying and the other in the Conference League. His appointment for Celta-Juventus therefore continues a season that has already taken him across both tournaments.

The selection also carries particular significance for the Galician club: it will be the second time the Dutch referee has taken charge of Celta in European competition. The fixture brings Celta up against Juventus, described as a historic club, following the defeat to Omonia. Against that backdrop, attention will be on how Celta approaches the match after failing to make a winning start to its European campaign. Van der Ejik will oversee the action on the pitch.
