Artificial intelligence has made Barcelona favorites against Galatasaray, who are due to meet today at Rams Park during the second week of the Champions League. Projections from the specialist network were produced a few hours before kick-off using thousands of simulations and an analysis of performance data from both teams.
The model puts Barcelona’s chances of winning away at 68.9%. Galatasaray have a 13.4% probability of claiming a home victory, while a draw is rated at 17.7%. The figures leave the Turkish side facing a challenging outlook for the fixture, while offering the Catalan team a strong statistical advantage.
The same network’s projections for the other match involving a Turkish club are less unfavorable to Fenerbahçe, who will face Aston Villa the following day in England. The simulations give Fenerbahçe a 22.1% chance of victory, compared with 55.1% for Aston Villa; the probability of a draw is 22.8%.
These probabilities are estimates, not match results. They nevertheless underline the scale of Galatasaray’s statistical challenge against Barcelona, while Fenerbahçe head into their trip with a less lopsided outlook.
