Aleksandar Pavlović said Manchester City had sought to sign him, though a move away from Bayern Munich had never seemed appealing to him. The midfielder has made 107 appearances for the club, scoring eight goals and providing seven assists. His progression from the youth teams to the senior squad has helped cement his bond with Bayern. His performances have also attracted attention from leading European clubs, including Manchester City, which was interested in a move during the summer.
“First of all, it is an honour when a top club like City contacts you. I grew up in Munich, I have always played for FC Bayern. My family and friends live here, there is nothing better for me. Therefore, the decision was not difficult,” Pavlović said.
City’s interest did not lead to an official transfer. Reports in Germany said the club had been prepared to pay around €100 million. Pavlović, for his part, says he prefers to continue his career in Munich and appears determined to keep developing at his boyhood club. He is under contract with Bayern until the summer of 2029, leaving the club in a strong position should further approaches arrive.
That loyalty reflects a long-standing connection with Bayern: he joined the academy in 2011. The Germany international also has 17 caps and one goal. With his family nearby and an established place in Bayern’s midfield, Munich remains, in his view, the best place to fulfil his ambitions.
