FIFA has leased offices in Trump Tower under a contract lasting more than seven years, in a deal estimated at about $4 million. The annual rent amounts to hundreds of thousands of dollars, although no employee is assigned to occupy the offices permanently.

The contract was concluded in May with Trump Tower Commercial, whose president is Eric Trump, Donald Trump’s son. The investigation says FIFA did not consider other locations before moving into the tower and that the offices are vacant most of the time. Several members of the federation’s leadership reportedly voiced concerns about a possible conflict of interest.

The deal has also raised questions about the relationship between Donald Trump and Gianni Infantino. It was signed as the FIFA president was visibly drawing closer to the American president. Last December, at the 2026 World Cup draw, Infantino presented Trump with what he called a “peace prize.”

FIFA, however, defended the agreement, saying the rent was in line with market prices and the lease followed its internal procedures.
