José Mourinho has announced the Real Madrid players travelling to the Italian capital to face Roma on Wednesday, in the second matchday of the Champions League. The announcement follows a winning start to the competition for the Madrid club: it beat Inter Milan 2-1 to claim its first three points in the league phase.
Dean Huijsen returns to the squad after missing the previous match against Villarreal through suspension. Vinícius Júnior is also included, despite being sent off against the same team. The suspension arising from that dismissal applies only to Spanish Liga matches and does not cover Champions League games.
The trip to Rome therefore follows Real Madrid’s victorious start to the league phase. Mourinho’s announced squad includes Huijsen, back after his suspension, and Vinícius Júnior, who is eligible for this European fixture despite his dismissal in the Liga.
