Pablo Barrios found the net on 13 September, 13 months after his previous goal, and dedicated his strike to Koke. Against Manchester United, the Atlético de Madrid midfielder put his side ahead at the Metropolitano before two minutes had elapsed. The goal came at the end of a counter-attack led by the Madrid side, with Baena furthest forward.
Barrios then ran to the corner to celebrate with the supporters and his teammates. The goal carried particular significance for Koke: the captain had lost his mother that morning.
Barrios’s previous goal had come against Villarreal on 13 September 2025. He scored again for Atlético de Madrid after 37 matches. The strike also offers a confidence boost to the midfielder, who had recovered from a slight injury sustained at the start of the season.
