Bayern Munich drew 3-3 with Viking in the Champions League after appearing close to a win. Playing at home, Viking snatched an equaliser through Herman Haugen in the 90th minute, denying the Bavarian club victory.
Bayern had revived the contest after the break. Harry Kane cut the deficit with a penalty in the 54th minute, then the England forward scored again in the 60th minute to bring the teams level. The comeback, however, was not enough to preserve Bayern’s advantage through to the final whistle.
The closing stages also saw Bayern’s French player Michael Olise sent off in the 73rd minute. The German side continued with a numerical disadvantage as Viking tried to get back on level terms. The late equaliser completed the contest’s swing and left the sides sharing the points.
The result was a contrast with Bayern’s start to the competition: the club had opened its campaign with a 5-0 win against Bodø/Glimt. Against Viking, despite scoring three times in the second half, Bayern could not hold on to its lead and had to settle for a point.
