Club Brugge moved ahead against Inter in the 63rd minute after an error by Josep Martínez. The goalkeeper came well out of his area and lost the ball to Forbs, who set up Tresoldi. He finished into the unguarded net to make it 2-1 to the visitors.

Club Brugge had opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the 30th minute. Nicolo Tresoldi converted after Hakan Çalhanoğlu fouled Carlos Forbs. Inter had dominated the first half and created a number of chances through Marcus Thuram, Lautaro Martínez and Federico Dimarco, but found themselves chasing the game.

Tresoldi added a third goal in the 74th minute, following up after Forbs’ shot was saved by Josep Martínez. Lautaro Martínez pulled one back in the 81st, after Yann Sommer had parried an attempt by Sučić. Romeo Vermant restored Club Brugge’s two-goal cushion in the 87th. Ange-Yoan Bonny scored for Inter in the 93rd, assisted by Stanković, but the home side could not avoid a heavy defeat. Seven goals were scored in the match.
